The DD Project Del Rosé 2021

Napa Valley, California

This dry, fruit-forward rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon is made in the world-famous Napa Valley of California. Many of us associate the rich, opulent profile of Cabernet with this area and enjoy the grape in the form of full-bodied red wine. If you love Cab, this is a fun way to try something new and different!

The wine is a deeper shade of pink than what you’d find in a light Provincial style rosé. Afterall, Cabernet has a thicker skin than the grapes used to make those whisper-pink versions.

It drinks lighter than the color would have you think and I grappled with whether it belongs in my “Light Rosé” or “Rich Rosé” category. On the palate, the wine is full-flavored enough that I ultimately chose “Rich” and if you try it, I think you’ll see why.

The nose offers notes of watermelon Jolly Rancher and fresh peach. It’s dry and bright with an excellent acid structure that will leave your mouth watering.

All proceeds from The DD Project go to benefit female entrepreneurial and educational initiatives in the state of Delaware and beyond. This rosé was created in loving memory of The DD Project’s founder’s mother, Diane Rizzo.
